End of the Year Awards
Last Thursday, the local photography club held their End of the Year Celebration. All winning photos from the year were eligible for end of the year judging, which means I had 14 photos entered. If I had to guess, there were probably 250 photos eligible, so I had my work cut out for me.
It ended up a big night for me. I finished 6th in points for the year, which was another top 10 finish. With the 32 points I accumulated for the year, I eclipsed the Bronze level, landing 7 points shy of Silver. Three digital color photos garnered Honorable Mentions, and my drone photo of a butte in Utah walked away with 1st place in Black and White print for the year which meant I got a plaque for that award. Overall, a great year in the club.
Yet, I feel as if I can do better. I was streaky with my wins, and I struggled with some themes. My goal for the year was to have 15 wins. I would have liked to have done that without the end of the year awards, but I managed to finish with 18 wins for the year. Next year, I'd like to eclipse Silver and Gold levels, and would like to have 15 wins without the End of the Year results. Tall orders, but I am up for it! Here are my winning photos.
