New Gear!!!

It’s been a while since a new gear post. A quick check shows July was my last new gear post when I picked up my Sony A6500. I just haven’t had the urge to buy anything lately. Sure, I have been eyeing a few big primes for birding. Maybe another 400mm, this time an f4 version, but I haven’t felt limited with my 100-500, so that urge has not been followed. What I ultimately decided I had to have was the RF24mm f1.8 lens.

With a March trip to the Lofoten Islands of Norway on the schedule, I needed a fast wide angle prime for the northern lights we are sure to see. I have a 16mm, but I have been underwhelmed by it and it may eventually be sold. As with most non L lenses, it did not come with a hood. $570 and no hood. Come on Canon!!! A off brand hood from Amazon is on the way, $13.

Anyway, pretty excited for the new lens. Hopefully we’ll get to see more Northern Lights here in Alabama, and if we do, I will be ready with this new lens.
