New Gear!!!!

This is an odd new gear post in that it’s a $30 piece of gear, but I’m pretty proud of it. 

My photography journey started in 2007 with a Fujifilm FinePix S700. I paid $250 or so for the camera back then, add a memory card, batteries, and a small bag and I was $300 in. That camera went to the Oregon coast in 2007/2008 and kicked off this photography passion. Although a deep love of the outdoors is a good excuse too! 

Not long after that trip, a trip to Atlanta resulted in a lost camera. I got out of my car in the parking lot of a hotel and either left the camera bag on the ground or I dropped it. It was never returned.

I loved the camera so much, either that or it was what I was accustomed to using, I bought the exact camera and bag. I used it for another year or so before I met a person who changed how I thought about cameras and photography. I gave the camera to a family member and jumped into my 1st DSLR, a Canon Rebel.

All of that to say, I found a functional Fujifilm FinePix S700 on EBay for about $30 shipped and I bought it. It arrived last week, 7mp and basic. The flash mechanism doesn’t pop up, but it works. It’s more of a nostalgia thing. I bought a cheap wrist strap and a lens cap, $10 total, and hope to take it out one weekend for some nostalgia! I’m sure it’ll disappoint but it’ll be fun.
