New gear day
New gear!! I promised myself I wouldn’t buy anything after the gear purge from last month, but I’ve totally disregarded my promise and picked up a new camera. The camera, a Sony a6500 for cheap. Or what I thought was cheap.
I have wanted a small camera I could carry with me every day for eternity. All I have tried in the past didn’t cut the mustard, even the venerable Sony RX100 VII. It just felt too small in my hands. In the past, I have owned a handful of Sony cameras, the NEX-7, an a6000, and mostly recently an a6400. The last two really sold me on the form factor, so much so, I bought several lenses for each.
I had dreamed of the a6700, but it felt bigger in my hand, and maybe not as jacket pocket size as I was looking for. Sure, I love my Canon stuff, the R7 is my birding camera, and the R5 is for landscapes and everything else. I have wanted something small to be an everyday carry camera, and I pulled the trigger.
The plan for now, is to stick with the kit lens. It’s tiny, reasonably sharp and does everything I want it to do. Down the road, maybe something else, but for now, I just want to have fun with this without having to think too much about my gear.
Headed out on a trip over the weekend, hope to have some photos to share when I return.
