And more gear out the door
Today I sold the Sony RX100 VII. Great camera, stunning photos out of it, lightweight and fit in a pocket, but I just didn’t love it. It was very small in my hands, and with my eyesight slowly degrading, the fun factor just wasn’t there. I saw a want to buy post on FredMiranda.com a few weeks ago and offered it up, but received no response, not even a “thanks, but no thanks”. Today, same thing, but this time the person wanted the camera. They’ve paid and it’s packed and ready to ship.
Another item I have been trying to get rid of for a few years left the fold as well. My EF 100-400 lens was sent to mpb.com graded as Heavily Used, with a estimated offer of $650. A few days after it was accepted at mpb, I got an upgraded condition grade, Well Used, which meant the offer was upped to $735. I had sold the lens 18 months ago on Fred Miranda for $1050 but the seller rejected it because it had a light abrasion on the front element that didn’t affect image quality. Anyway, at that point, I figured the lens was mine forever unless I wanted to give it away. I never imagined getting more than $400 for it, so mpb.com definitely surprised me.
That’s four lenses and a camera out the door, money in my pocket. About $3200 in total.
Next up, the EF 400mm f5.6 will be sold. It’s around a $500 lens. And then I will sell the EF extenders as well, $175-$200 for each. I’m also cleaning out some other unused things around the house. An iPad mini, my Thule bike rack, and my mountain bike. Time to move on from things I no longer need or use. Spring cleaning I guess.
The other bit of news to share, is I bought a drone. Not a new Mavic 4 Pro, but a Mavic 3 Classic for $650. I figure if it is not for me, I can recoup my money or close to it. More from that bit of news later.
Now, off to finish this mountain of photos I still have!
